The
Living Rainforest

The Red-billed Toucan Ramphastos toucans (aka White-throated Toucan)
The Living Rainforest have a
rather nice example of the Red-Billed Toucan, It is usually found in
rainforest, especially near water, It forages in the canopy where it
feeds on fruit, insects, small reptiles and birds eggs. Toucans hop from
branch to branch in the canopy, adjusting their feathers, feet and body
weight to balance under wet and windy conditions.
Like all toucans it is very vocal and this one was no exception, it is a
"yelper" rather than a "croaker" some people think
Toucans look ugly because their beak is almost as long as their body,
but I don't agree.
